Whether you're looking for a band to pack the dance floor of your club or event, or one to entertain the masses at your festival, you need to look no further than Blackdog Blue. In a relatively short time, Blackdog Blue has established itself as a high energy, high quality five-piece band that masterfully mixes upbeat blues and classic rock with infectious originals. It has entertained crowds at a wide range of venues including, “The Great Canadian Music Festival”, Music in the Park (Kamloops), Pete’s Blue Grotto, the “House Party at the Hall” series, and a number of private functions.
Since the successful release of its first studio album, “Slide”, in June, 2006, Blackdog Blue has also seen both commercial and college radio play in the Kamloops region as well as fantastic off-stage and local retail outlet sales; all the while establishing a strong, dedicated, local following.
What makes Blackdog Blue unique is a combination of great talents coming together with a common musical outlook and goal. The founder, guitar player, and primary song writer, Dennis Hayes, pours his love of classic rock, Texas blues, and song writing into every song and every performance. Renea Denis, the lead singer, brings a voice and a styling that many have described as soulful and amazing. Uli Scheck, with his 25 years of experience as a keyboard player and vocalist in both Canada and Europe, is as talented as he is versatile. Corey Yamaoka (famous for his “Yamaoka shuffle”) and his funky bass lines compliment the solid drumming of uniquely clad Darrell Hanna (not the actress).
